Land Of Anger isn’t a place from some Tolkien’s novel, ancient slavs myth or creation of ones sick mind either. Land Of Anger is a place so close to us that is still imperceivable. The place fullfiled with lies, hatered, hypocrisy and all the excrements. In such world a new creative idea was born supposed to show the filth and mental polution wich is being done by man. That is the way the creation named Land Of Anger joined the ideological battle.

To be honest the band Land Of Anger was initiated by Rafal Pick (guitar), Przemek Popowski (voice) and Marcin Cieslak(drums) in 1997/1998. The name was taken from one of the Sepultura’s song “Dead Embryonic Cells”. In the same time the first few songs were composed wich sounded like metal with thrash influence. In 1999 Pawel Urowski (bass guitar) joined the band and it was the real beginning of the band, because of full line-up. It was easy to notice fascination of Slayer, Sepultura, Kreator in band’s music. The first concert of Land of Anger took place in Kaziemierz Biskupi on extremely small stage but the second show was played in Bydgoszcz, the place of band’s creation, in “Kuznia” club with Cicatrix and Mortis Dei. The band has been given very warm welcome. After that show musicians decided to engage a second guitarist and then Jakub Galinski joined the band (currently plays bass guitar in Sammath Naur). Owing to his play, music started to sound heavier in deathstyle and first solos appeared.

With such crew the band started to create much harder compositions in depressive-nihilistic ideological concept, which is a base of Land Of Anger’s creative invention till today. Few months later Pawel Urowski left the band and joined a jazz project called Soul Essence (actually it’s better for such a good bass player). Lately Marek Szulczynski (guitarist of Christ’s Cage) filled vacant place and become a new bass player. Land Of Anger gave just a few shows in that line-up and Marek left the band and not so long later Jakub left, too. To make it worse also Marcin left the band, but just for a while and he was replaced by Herod, legendary drummer of Tempter. Fortunately Marcin came back after 1 month. In the same time Misha “was trying” to fill the empty place for a second guitar player but his guitar style was not acceptable. Permanent personal complications and troubles with rehearsal place made it impossible to compose and record a full-time album or even demo and made us think there is some bad omen over Land Of Anger.

In 2000 year Mariusz Sarnowski joined the band as a new bass player and about 1 year later in October 2001 the youngest, 18-year old Szymon Priebe (guitar and voice in Legions Of Death) became a new guitarist. It was a very big step because band’s music was turned to classical, fast and dynamic death metal with harmonic parts and climatic solos.

With such a line-up Land Of Anger played few concerts and in Spring 2002 finally recorded first demo album “... in galaxy of evil”. This album does not have a status of a real demo because it sounds terrible and does not represent the band’s character. It rather closes some period in band’s career. Despite that “... in galaxy of evil” had very warm welcome by fans. There was also critical opinions (like in “Thrash’em All” magazine) but the majority enjoyed the music. Album has been sold in about 300 copies.

In years 2002-2003 there was quite a lot of shows that Land Of Anger gave and next presonal change. Damian Bednarski (guitar and voice and leader of Unborn Suffer) has standed for Mariusz as a new bass player. It was very important event, because since Damian appeared, the band has become strong and united crew and new elements of brutal death/grind has appeared. Finally Land Of Anger could focus on preparing music for full-time debut album. It is named “pangea” and contains music composed by all musicians of the band. The starting point is quite brutal, complex death metal with influence of technical thrash, grind or even black metal. There are also slow parts, acoustic elements and climatic, melodic solos and last but not least existential-philosophical Przemek’s lyrics.

That’s Land Of Anger anno 2005.
